Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

Voted as 'Best-run reserve'

Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is a forward looking, progressive First Nation located in north central Saskatchewan (72 km northwest of Prince Albert) and has a total registered population of 3,100 with approximately 1,800 members resident on reserve. Ahtahkakoop has a very young population with 60% of its members under 25 years of age. Ahtahkakoop’s land base consists of 43,000 acres with an option of acquiring upward to an additional 34,500 acres though its Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) processes.

Ahtahkakoop has all services and good infrastructure including 417 housing units, K-12 high school, day care, medical clinic, recreation facilities, paved roads, RCMP sub office, high speed internet, cell service. etc.

Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation prides itself as having a strong Management, Governance and Administrative system. Ahtahkakoop leadership is very committed to strong governance with a focus on integrity, transparency and accountability. (Voted as "best run reserve" based on a survey done on 112 First Nations in Saskatchewan and Manitoba by the Frontier Center for Public Policy.)

Ahtahkakoop is a strong advocate of Economic Development and strongly believes in the separation of business from politics.
